On the 5th July 2014 we had 11 members enter the Hutt City Taekwondo Open tournament at Naenae Badminton Hall. The competitors were (S) Alex Pfeffer, (G) Pounamu & (G) Kahurere Mackay, (G) Harvey Meyer , (G) Taylor Wallace, (B) Kiri Winiata Enoka, (S) Trent Thompson, (B,G) Cody & (G) Lucas Mildenhall, (S) Lilly Greenham, (B,G)Lucas Mildenhall &(G) Lukah Logan Richards.
The club members who attended are aged between 7-12 years old.
The club received 7 Gold 3 Silver and 2 Bronze.
Pounamu Mackay and Harvey Meyer both received trophies for best spa during the day of the tournament. They both fought hard and were amazing. The club also received the top club trophy which was unexpected but awesome. Three of our members had their first spa and fought hard and did very well. The other 8 members are already experienced. They have sparred before and knew what to expect. Leading up to the big day the team had intense trainings which contributed to their fitness and stamina.
Jim Babbington and assistant instructor Paula Teau are very happy with the team and their results, we are very proud of the team. We would like to thank the club member’s parents, and extended whanau for their support on the day.
