OC15_Kapiti-olive-oilKapiti Olive Oil has topped the country for being Class Champion in the Medium Olive Oil category, and winning one of only two gold medals awarded at the recent Royal Easter Show held in Auckland.

Chief Judge, and leading oils and food specialist, Dr Laurence Eyres commented: “The general standard this year was again very high and we had to re-taste several oils to select the final winners in a tight competition.  Overall, it’s becoming increasingly apparent that the best New Zealand oils are on a par with the very best from anywhere around the world”.

The Kapiti Olive Oil award winner is a blend of the best Frantoio, Leccino, and Koroneiki olives grown in river silt loam soil alongside the banks of the Ōtaki River and continues a 13 year award-winning streak for Helen and David Walshaw.
