To the left of All Saints' Church is the Parish Hall which had been built in Iti Street ( no 12) in 1904, as a Church Room for Sunday School and socials. In 1914 the buiilding was transferred to Te Rauparaha Street to be used as a church. The building was demolished in 1962 to make way for the building of Hadfield Hall. (Click for full size)

The Annual General Meeting of the Society was held on 4 August.  Instead of a speaker there was a film show.

Errol Maffey is an unpaid archivist, and has been recording local places, people and events on video and film for fifteen years. He showed two films, one on the Otaki Railway Station, and one on the Red House Cafe.  The latter was particularly poignant as the century-old building had recently been completely destroyed by fire.

These fascinating films were very well received and Errol was thanked for showing them and for the work he does.

It was noted that donations would be a helpful contribution to this work, and also to the Community Patrol which keeps the town safe.
