Otaki River walkover 18 September

F_R_GWRC-logo.pngThe Annual Otaki River Walkover conducted by Greater Wellington Regional Council Flood Protection Team in association with Friends of the Otaki River is to be held on Friday 18 September.

This is an opportunity for residents of Otaki and District to view works carried out on the river in the past year and those contemplated for the year ahead.

Friday 18 September
8.30am from the River Administration Depot, Riverbank Road, Otaki
Register to attend.

This not a ‘walkover’ as such, it is a coach tour of the upper reaches of the river to the estuary giving an insight to some regions not normally open to the public.

A representative from Winstone Aggregates will give an outline of the company’s plans for mining and developing the recently purchased Ashford Park during the tour.

“This is an opportunity to view first hand the current works being undertaken and be informed by members of the Flood Protection Team” said Max Lutz, chairman of FOTOR.

Morning tea at Chrystall’s Lagoon and a light lunch will conclude the morning tour which commences at 8.30am from the River Administration Depot, Riverbank Road, Otaki.
