The exhibition “Otaki Remembers World War I” will be open to the public from 7 August. The museum at 49 Main Street is open on Thursdays Fridays and Saturdays 10 am – 2 pm. This exhibition features some superb photographs from Woodville Pioneer Museum, the Alexander Turnbull Library and elsewhere. They graphically illustrate the conditions our men endured in battle, but also show some of the lighter moments. Come and see what Otaki was like at that time and find out what those left at home did to help their ‘boys’ as the soldiers were called. And some of them were just boys – teenagers. The display includes medals, uniforms, war postcards and other memorabilia.
