From the Otaki Mail, Monday June 16

This photo of the interior of Rangiatea was probably taken in the early 1920s, so would have looked like this at the time of the ordination.

ORDINATION SERVICE AT OTAKI

There was a very large congregation yesterday morning in the old historic church, where both Maori and Pakeha congregations united to take part in the ordination to the Priesthood of the Rev Pakoka Heketora Leonard. The Right Rev the Lord Bishop of the Diocese conducted the impressive ceremony, and was assisted in the laying on of hands by the Revs G F Petrie, W G Williams, and Temuera Tokoaitua.  The service was conducted partly in Maori and partly in English.  The Rev. Wilfred G Williams, Superintendent of the Maori Mission, delivered  the address, speaking first to the Maori worshippers in their own language, and afterwards in English to the Europeans.  Mrs Te Hana ably presided at the organ.
