Health wins for children

Horowhenua and indirectly Otaki will be the first of four regions in New Zealand to get a children’s team. The aim is to wrap around all services for children from various sector and community groups to provide support for children.

This is part of the government’s Child Action Plan for vulnerable children where there is one contact person to work with all the others reducing the risk that a vulnerable child falls through the cracks, free from harm with their health needs met and getting the education they need.

“By September 1st, the team should be up and running looking after the needs of our kids and that will be another bonus for the work already being done and planned for the region’s kids.” says MidCentral’s Child and Youth Health manager, Barb Bradnock.
