As Christmas approaches and plans are made for the holiday season, MidCentral DHB would like to remind people to think ahead before the holiday period. MidCentral DHB wants people to enjoy their holidays whether they are going away or staying at home. They’re encouraging people to check their prescription medications now to ensure they get enough to cover the holiday season. If you check your medications now, you will have time to organise to have enough medications to cover you into the New Year. Many pharmacies have provision to cover you for up to 72 hours for prescription medication in an emergency; however, it is better if you get enough medication before the holiday season and remember to take it away with you.
Call your practice nurse to check out what you need as often a phone call to them can answer any queries or concerns you might have. They will also be able to direct you where to go if you will need more assistance. Other useful advice from your health professional is to enjoy everything in moderation during the Christmas season, but be in control at all times, including being patient on the roads. While it is the holiday season, if there is an emergency, after hour’s doctors and hospitals will still be open.
