January 2014 — Cafe Ra’s graffiti wall

Tamara and Jason Post purchased Oasis cafe a year ago. Their aim was to develop it as a community cafe. Rebranding it as Cafe Ra was the first step. Not long afterwards, they were shocked to dins a group of out-of-town kids had tagged Otaki's Main street. "How pathetic was that?" she said. "Graffiti is an amazing art form, if you ice it a chance" she enthused.

February 2014 — Waitangi Day at Raukawa Marae

Otaki’s Raukawa Marae hosted the Kapiti Coast Waitangi Day celebrations this year, with a powhiri, entertainment, museum exhibition and a bus tour of the significant historical sites.

March 2014 — Lonely Planet Lauds Otaki Kite Festival

The Otaki Kite Festival was another huge success and drew 12,000 people to Otaki Beach over the three days, many bringing their own kites and others to watch the wide variety of kites from around New Zealand and overseas.

April 2014 — Maoriland Film Festival a Huge Success

They came, they saw and Otaki conquered the large contingent of New Zealand and international film makers, here for the recent inaugural Maoriland Film Festival.
