On April 21st at the Ōtaki Museum, Rex Kerr launched his fifth historical book ‘Not Only Te Rauparaha but also…..’ Three years of research had retired headmaster Kerr digging into the Ōtaki Historical Society’s journals, the Alexander Turnbull Library, NZ Archives and various public libraries, together with countless interviews with local families.
The result? In Rex’s words ‘ Mostly little people who lived out their lives unappreciated’. The 100 histories, from James Atkins to Duncan Yeats tells of their lives and their contribution to Ōtaki. This impressive book will be a great source of research material as the history of our town unfolds.
