Rahui Football and Sports Club — looking forward to a good year

F_FE16_RahuiuntitledRahui Football and Sports Club are looming for a big 2016. It is anticipated that there will be a Senior 1st team along with a Senior Reserves. Grades also exist for the College and Junior Age grade teams, starting at U7s and after a successful World Cup by the ABs, it is hoped player numbers will increase from 2015.

Even though Rahui only had one Senior team in 2015, there were about 60 registered players and with these numbers Rahui were able to win the Senior Reserve competition. The 2015 Senior Reserve coach Jared Telford believes the players exist in the Ōtaki area for a successful Senior 1st team & as such, Jared has been appointed the 2016 Senior 1st Coach. There was a get together before Christmas showing there is support to put two teams together.

Jared says the first training hit-out is on Tuesday 26th Jan at 6.15 pm & every Tuesday and Thursday thereafter. All players wanting to have a run at what ever level are encouraged to attend at the Ōtaki Domain. Several pre-season games are lined up including a home game under lights and there is going to be a good mix of young talent and experience. To get things started, Jared has entered a 7s team into the Shannon Sevens on 29th Feb.

So get behind your local rugby team this year and if you have some spare time, there are plenty of ways to assist by Coaching & Managing in all grades, and roles in both Senior & Junior Committees.

The AGM is being held at the Rahui Clubrooms on Sunday, 21st Feb at 4pm, so come along and see how you can help.
