Ōtaki Clean Technology Centre

Blended Fuel Solutions NZ Ltd has taken over the running of the Ōtaki Clean Tech Centre. The Centre has moved to a new location at 14-16 Titoki St, Ōtaki

The Centre was originally set up in Miro St in 2010 by Grow Wellington, Wellington’s regional economic development agency. GW recently stepped down from managing the Centre to concentrate on other priorities.

The Centre will continue to provide desks and shared light industrial areas for growing clean tech companies and other start-up businesses.

It will also offer other services to support the companies and the wider clean tech community. The location has a number of established clean tech businesses within walking distance and there is “grow-on” space for industrial businesses including in the nearby Clean Technology Park.

Initial residents are Blended Fuel Solutions Ltd, Waste Transformation Ltd, Nufuels Ltd, Green Earth/Emergency Compost Toilet, Starscopes and the Association of NZ Clean Technology Industries.

There is space for a few more businesses at the new location. The building has shared meeting areas and other facilities. It will also be used as the meeting space for the Energise Ōtaki Reference Group and Ōtaki Energy.

One change of emphasis for the centre will be to work together with the Association of New Zealand Clean Technology Industries, the Ōtaki Clean Technology Park and local Ōtaki businesses and community groups to build Ōtaki’s already strong reputation as a centre for clean, sustainable technology businesses.

Ōtaki is already home to Energise Ōtakii and businesses such as 2nd Life Plastics; Matta Products; Envirowaste, Enviropaints, Crushed Glass/Silaca, Entyre, Ayrpak and Hebe Botanicals. The Centre is keen to identify other businesses in the local area with an interest clean technology or in supporting and promoting it as part of Ōtaki’s emerging reputation for innovative technologies.

The Centre has an interim website at www.cleantechcentre.nz. Leigh Ramsey of Blended Fuel Solutions, Business Development Manager for the centre can be contacted on 027 444 3015 or 06 364 9134.
