The new exhibition is called Not Only Te Rauparaha and Hadfield But Also…. This is also of the title of Rex Kerr’s latest book, launched at the opening of the exhibition.
The book tells the stories of over a hundred early Ōtaki people, and 37 have been selected for the exhibition. Some are well-known, others might be new to you. In the first few days the exhibition was open, many visitors identified ancestors. Is one of yours there?
Even if you are not descended from anyone portrayed, you will find their stories absorbing.
The Ōtaki Museum is at 49 Main Street and is open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays 10 am – 2 pm.
