Mayor Ross Church with fellow walkers on the recent 2015 Ōtaki River Walkover, says the annual event was the best ever, with about 200 people taking part.
“It was educational to get an overview of the flood protection work, maintenance being undertaken and river improvements, as well as the gravel extraction activities.
“It was particularly good to see the extent of plantings by local schools and community groups, with good backing from local businesses.”
Greater Wellington Regional Council’s flood protection department organises the walkover in conjunction with the Friends of the Ōtaki River environmental group.
