Three years ago the Ōtaki Community Health Trust donated the Marjorie Gordon Memorial Health Award trophy and scholarship to Ōtaki College to be awarded to a year 13 student going to study the Health Sciences field at university.
This memorial trophy recognises the many years Marjorie Gordon spent working in radiology and researching the effects of the radiation on people working in areas of radiation. Mrs Gordon lived in Manakau and worked in the Ōtaki area for many years. Marjorie was a stalwart of the Ōtaki Community Health Committee and founding chairperson of the ŌCHT.
This year the current head girl, Clare McInerney-Heather was awarded the scholarship. Clare will be beginning her health sciences studies at Otago University in 2016.
