As March draws to a close I can look back in amazement at the number of events and happenings at the Civic over the last few weeks.
First up were two performances of the NZ Festival show Wave, wow what a performance. The first to nearly 200 year seven and eight pupils from Ōtaki College and Te Ra Rudolf Steiner School and the evening performance to about 60 adults, the comments from all age groups “magnificent, amazing”.
Next up were the auditions for Rent, a good number attended and the show has been fully cast, with a mix of new faces, regulars and some we haven’t seen for a number of years. Rehearsals start at the beginning of April.
The society’s AGM was held March 13, a small group attended and we now have three new committee members to join the remaining members from last year. They have a busy year ahead.
This last week has been seen almost day long use of the theatre for the Maoriland Film Festival film shows, many for schools were held at the Civic and others during the afternoons and evenings, with the Red Carpet Party on Saturday night. Over 1000 all told!
Our new seats have been well tested and we’ve received many appreciative comments. Thank you Circa Theatre!
The committee received KCDC notice the theatre is earthquake prone, there are further in depth examinations to be done, until we hear otherwise, we are going to continue with our programme for 2016.
